DUSHANBE: Eventually, Tajikistan plans to increase its renewable energy generation capacity by a factor of two, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon said during a press conference following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tajikistan, Trend reports. "In the future, Tajikistan plans to increase its renewable energy production capacity by a factor of two, capitalizing on its abundant natural resources to propel the "green economy" forward. In this light, we are really enthusiastic about the prospect of increased collaboration in the energy industry, especially regarding the production of hydroelectric power," Rahmon said. The president showed his appreciation for China's efforts in pulling their weight in constructing and bringing power stations up to speed, as well as carrying out projects to lay down transmission lines all across Tajikistan. In addition, Tajikistan's Ministry of Energy and Water Resources and China's Ministry of Commerce sealed the deal on boosting investment cooperation in the r ealm of "new" energy with a memorandum during Xi Jinping's visit to Tajikistan.
