Repatriation of Azerbaijani Citizens from Syria Successfully Executed

Baku: As a result of the phased and coordinated measures taken by the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 23 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan (7 women and 16 children) were repatriated from the Syrian Arab Republic to our country on June 7, 9, and 11 of this year.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the initial stage of the repatriation process involved determining the location, identity, and citizenship of the Azerbaijani repatriates. The Embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Syrian Arab Republic and the Republic of Trkiye, as well as the Consulate General in Istanbul, coordinated efforts to provide the citizens with 'certificates of return to the Republic of Azerbaijan' and plane tickets.

Members of the Working Group, consisting of state agencies responsible for repatriating Azerbaijani citizens facing crisis situations abroad, were dispatched to Syria. These members conducted initial medical and psychological examinations of the repatriates.

Plans are in place to implement measures for the social rehabilitation and reintegration of the repatriates into Azerbaijani society. The Azerbaijani government will continue to take necessary actions to repatriate citizens who have become victims of armed conflict in foreign countries.
