Romanian Senate Hosts Conference to Commemorate Heydar Aliyev’s 103rd Anniversary

Bucharest: The Azerbaijani Embassy in Romania organized a conference at the Romanian Senate to commemorate the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The event took place on May 12 and commenced with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Romania, followed by a moment of silence in memory of Heydar Aliyev.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event was opened by Gudsi Osmanov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Romania, who highlighted the significant contributions and statehood experience of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The conference featured a speech from Mircea Abrudean, President of the Romanian Senate, who acknowledged Aliyev's dedication to his people and his role in strengthening Azerbaijan. Abrudean also noted the important role Aliyev played in developing relations between Azerbaijan and Romania, recalling his own visit to Azerbaijan and meeting with President Ilham Aliyev last year.

Other notable speakers included Ziyafat Asgarov, Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis, Marian Neacsu, Head of the Friendship Group with Azerbaijan in the Romanian Parliament, and Azay Guliyev, Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Romania Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group. They all emphasized Heydar Aliyev's pivotal role as the architect of the modern Azerbaijani state and a key figure in fostering Romania-Azerbaijan relations.

The conference concluded with a video presentation highlighting the impactful and meaningful life of Heydar Aliyev, underscoring his enduring legacy in Azerbaijani history.
