Baku: On September 24, a roundtable titled “The Role of Public Solidarity in the Liberation and Revival of Karabakh” was held to mark the fifth anniversary of Remembrance Day. Organized by the Karabakh Revival Fund (KRF) and the Baku International Multiculturalism Center (BIMC), the event brought together deputies of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, government officials, family members of martyrs, war veterans, leaders of ethnic and religious communities, and media representatives.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event commenced with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, followed by the performance of the State Anthem. Rahman Hajiyev, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, emphasized the role of national unity and solidarity in achieving victory in Karabakh. Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the nation unified around a common cause, supported by the heroism of soldiers and the spirit of national solidarity.
Hajiyev highlighted ongoing reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories, stressing the importance of public solidarity and coordinated activity for swift and effective implementation. He noted that unity not only aids in reconstruction but also forms a foundation for Karabakh’s long-term development and prosperity.
Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, remarked on the significance of 27 September as Remembrance Day, symbolizing national will and unity. He noted that the day honors the martyrs and their families, acknowledging their sacrifice for Azerbaijan’s freedom and sovereignty. Hasanov stated that BIMC promotes national unity and values of peace and multiculturalism, important for the revival of liberated territories post-Patriotic War.
Kamal Abdullayev, Rector of the Azerbaijan University of Languages and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BIMC, described the 44-day Patriotic War as both a military and moral victory. He emphasized that Azerbaijan’s strength lies in its unity, multicultural traditions, and environment of tolerance, which have been integral to national strength and victory.
The event, moderated by Parvin Baghirova, featured speeches from various officials and community leaders who reiterated the role of public solidarity and national diversity in achieving victory. A short documentary, “We Are Strong Together,” and a photo exhibition, “From Tragedy to Triumph,” showcasing reconstruction efforts in liberated areas, were also presented.
