Baku: The trial of Ruben Vardanyan, an Armenian citizen facing numerous charges, including crimes against peace and humanity, continued at the Baku Military Court. The open court session, presided over by Judge Zeynal Agayev, included judges Anar Rzayev and Jamal Ramazanov. Vardanyan was provided with a translator and a lawyer for his defense.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the defense lawyer Avraam Berman addressed the court, noting that he and Vardanyan had reviewed previous court session protocols. They requested access to additional documents related to the trial proceedings. Judge Agayev assured that the accused and his counsel would have access to all necessary documents.

The court heard testimonies from victims and their legal successors who were affected by actions attributed to Armenia’s military policy. Absaleddin Koklerov, Tahir Gasimov, and others recounted injuries and fatalities resulting from gunfire and shell explosions. These testimonies highlighted the impact of the conflict on individuals in regions such as Aghdam, Khojavend, and Khojaly.

Forensic medical examination results of the victims were presented during the session. The trial proceedings are set to continue, with the next session scheduled for July 8. Ruben Vardanyan faces charges under multiple articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, encompassing war crimes, terrorism, and other offenses.
