Russia-North Korea Cooperation Not Aimed Against South Korea, Says Russian Ambassador


Seoul: Russian Ambassador to Seoul Georgy Zinoviev has clarified that the cooperation between Russia and North Korea is not intended to threaten the security of South Korea.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during a meeting at the South Korean Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Zinoviev emphasized that the collaboration between Moscow and Pyongyang adheres to international law and does not target South Korea’s security interests. The meeting comes amid concerns in Seoul over North Korea’s involvement in global issues that could impact regional stability.

Earlier discussions between First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong Kyun of South Korea and the Russian ambassador highlighted Seoul’s concerns regarding the alleged transfer of North Korean servicemen to Russia for participation in the Ukraine conflict. The Russian embassy noted that Moscow has consistently refuted these allegations.

Furthermore, the South Korean Foreign Ministry reiterated its stance, stating that Seoul would join the international community
in taking all necessary measures to protect its core security interests against any threats.
