Russia Supports Kyrgyzstan’s Industrial Park Ambitions


BISHKEK—Russia has committed to assisting Kyrgyzstan in evaluating the potential for developing industrial and technology parks, a move that could significantly enhance Kyrgyzstan’s economic landscape. This initiative was formalized through a roadmap agreement signed by Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce at the recent Kyrgyz-Russian Forum.



According to Trend News Agency, the collaboration will focus on the detailed aspects of establishing industrial and technology parks in Kyrgyzstan, utilizing Russian expertise in the development and management of such ventures. The Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and Commerce views these parks as pivotal for fostering creativity and propelling economic advancement, with strong national support for their expansion.



Additionally, the implementation of the Kyrgyz law “On Technology Parks,” which was enacted on July 12, 2024, provides a legal framework to support the establishment and growth of these parks. This law is aimed at facilitating technology transfer, generating employment opportunities, and building the foundations of a knowledge-based economy within Kyrgyzstan.



Economic data released by Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates that the country’s industrial output from January to August 2024 reached over 330 billion soms (approximately $3.9 billion), marking a 0.7 percent increase from the same period the previous year.
