Moscow: Grain transportation by rail from Russia to Armenia via a new route passing through Azerbaijan has become regular, said Sergey Pavlov, First Deputy Director General of Russian Railways, APA reports. He recalled that in November 2025, restrictions on the transit of cargo to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory were lifted, as a result of which, for the first time in many years, a train loaded with grain from Russia was dispatched.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, currently, cargo deliveries are being carried out on a regular basis. In the future, plans are in place to further develop transportation along this route. Pavlov emphasized the significance of the new route in facilitating consistent grain shipments, marking a substantial development in regional trade logistics.
To date, 20,660 tons of grain have been successfully shipped from Russia to Armenia via transit through Azerbaijan. This development underscores the growing cooperation in logistical operations between the involved countries and highlights the potential for increased trade efficiency in the region.
