BAKU — Sahib Mammadov has been named the new president of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), following his election at the 7th Extraordinary Congress of ATUC on August 26.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the election was prompted by the resignation of Sattar Mohbaliyev, who stepped down due to his involvement in the upcoming parliamentary elections on September 1. Mammadov, born in 1978 and a graduate of Kyiv State University’s Faculty of International Law, has held significant positions within the Ministry of Economy since 2014, including a stint as Deputy Minister since 2021. Recognized for his contributions to state service, Mammadov has received several honors, including the “For Distinction in State Service” and “Tereggi” (Progress) medals. He is married and the father of two children.
