Baku: The delegation led by Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mazen Torki Al-Qadi, currently on an official visit, arrived at the Milli Majlis on 22 June, as reported by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis to APA. Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, warmly welcomed the guests.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Speaker of the House of Representatives first familiarized himself with the plenary chamber of the Milli Majlis. During their visit to the memorial hall dedicated to the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, the delegation examined exhibits depicting various periods of the National Leader's life and political activities. Mazen Torki Al-Qadi expressed his sentiments by leaving a note in the Memorial Book.
The meeting then proceeded in an expanded format, where Speaker Gafarova highlighted discussions from a meeting between the delegation and President Ilham Aliyev. She emphasized the significant progress in bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Jordan, noting the importance of reciprocal visits and meetings between the Heads of State in fostering these ties.
The discussion touched on the cooperation and mutual support between the two countries within international organizations such as the UN, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement. Speaker Gafarova reflected on her previous meeting with Al-Qadi during a conference in Montenegro, praising the strong inter-parliamentary relations and the active participation of the Jordanian Parliament in the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.
Mazen Torki Al-Qadi expressed gratitude for the invitation to Azerbaijan and commended the ongoing development of relations between the two nations under the guidance of their respective Heads of State. He highlighted the significance of the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States being held in Baku.
The conversation also covered topics such as inter-parliamentary cooperation, legislative experience exchange, investment promotion, and humanitarian initiatives. The meeting provided an opportunity to further expand parliamentary relations and reinforce mutual support in international parliamentary organizations.
Both parties engaged in an exchange of opinions on matters of shared interest, underscoring the importance of continued collaboration between parliamentary committees and friendship groups.
