Baku: Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has participated in the Inter-Parliamentary Union's high-level dialogue on "The Parliamentary Dialogue on Digital Governance," the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA. Speaking during the event, which she attended online, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the growing significance of digital governance for the international community.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, digital transformation is no longer merely a technological process. It has become a key element of modern governance, sustainable development, and the delivery of efficient public services. In her speech, Sahiba Gafarova highlighted Azerbaijan's commitment to advancing digital governance.
She detailed that Azerbaijan has established the Digital Development Council by a decree of the President to coordinate state policy in digitalization, e-government, artificial intelligence, and innovation. The Council is chaired by the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva. The Speaker noted that the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan is actively working to enhance the legal framework for digital innovation while ensuring legal certainty. A significant portion of the Azerbaijani Parliament's legislative activities focuses on developing digital governance and e-government. New laws are being adopted to support Azerbaijan's digital transformation, and existing legislation is regularly updated to align with technological advancements and new governance requirements.
