Baku: On May 26, the Azerbaijan Medical University hosted the opening of a scientific-practical conference titled ‘Current Problems in Military Medicine – 2025’, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Military Medical Faculty, as reported by the Ministry of Defense to APA. The event began with a tribute as flowers were placed in front of busts dedicated to National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the doctors who became Shehids for the Motherland. A minute of silence was observed in their honor, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan by a military orchestra.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the conference gathered representatives from the healthcare sector, medical services of all power authorities, as well as professors, teachers, students, and cadets of the Azerbaijan Medical University and the Military Medical Faculty. The Rector of the Azerbaijan Medical University, Professor Garay Garaybayli, inaugurated the conference by highlighting the Military Medical Faculty as one of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s visionary contributions to the development of the army and the preservation of national independence.
Major General Gunduz Abdulov, Rector of the National Defense University, addressed the conference, emphasizing the role of the National Defense University in providing centralized management within the military education system, following advanced global practices and national military-strategic interests. Various speakers underscored the significance of the Military Medical Faculty’s activities and the centralization of military medical education.
The event featured a documentary screening titled ‘The Past, Present, and Future of the Military Medical Faculty’. Plaques were awarded to former chiefs of the faculty and teachers who have dedicated over 20 years to the institution. In the artistic segment, students from Azerbaijan Medical University performed patriotic songs. The conference is scheduled to conclude on May 27.
