Secretary General: Gathering of Religious Leaders of Turkic World is of Great Importance

Baku: 'Meetings of religious leaders make an important contribution to preserving common values,' Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev told journalists on the sidelines of the 7th Meeting of Muslim religious leaders of the Organization of Turkic States, APA reports. He noted that the meeting in Baku is already the seventh gathering held in this format and that bringing together the religious leaders of the Turkic world is of great importance.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the OTS Secretary General highlighted the significance of these meetings in discussing both religious and social issues within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States. The agenda of the meeting includes issues related to science, particularly the importance attached to science and education in Islam, as well as the institution of the family.

Omuraliev emphasized the importance of protecting the institution of the family and passing family values on to future generations, noting that this is crucial for all societies in the modern era. He also addressed the rapid digital changes occurring globally and the impact of new technologies on society, stressing the need to approach these processes from the perspective of Islamic values and principles.

The Secretary General pointed out the necessity of strengthening cooperation among religious institutions and coordinating the activities of fatwa committees. He highlighted the active participation of Azerbaijan's religious leaders, muftis, and representatives of other religious institutions as particularly significant in this process.

Omuraliev also appreciated the letter addressed by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, to the religious leaders and participants of the meeting, considering it a testament to the attention and support for cooperation among religious institutions. Furthermore, he mentioned that expanding cooperation among religious educational institutions and religious organizations within the OTS could contribute to the exchange of experience and knowledge, the development of modern religious education, the preservation of common values, and guiding the younger generation effectively.
