Serbia and Azerbaijan Strengthen Ties Through Strategic Partnership and Direct Flights

Belgrade: In a recent phone call, President Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan discussed the strengthening of their bilateral relationship.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the leaders fondly recalled President Aliyev's official visit to Serbia in February, which included the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council between the two nations. They highlighted the significance of the agreements signed during the visit, which aim to bolster cooperation.

The conversation also covered plans to deepen economic collaboration and further develop energy, investment, and new strategic projects. President Vucic expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's continuous support and reaffirmed Serbia's commitment to nurturing a relationship based on friendship, respect, and shared economic goals. He characterized the ongoing cooperation as a testament to the strong partnership and mutual trust between Serbia and Azerbaijan.

Additionally, President Vucic announced his participation in the upcoming 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku next month. The leaders also expressed satisfaction with the upcoming launch of direct flights between Belgrade and Baku by Air Serbia on May 3, viewing it as a significant step toward enhancing people-to-people connections and boosting economic and tourism prospects.

The discussion also touched on the current situation in the Middle East, with both leaders underscoring the importance of restoring peace and stability for the security and development of the region.
