Baku: The Middle Corridor, officially known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, has solidified its position as a strategic pathway for regional trade and global freight movement, according to Shakhlo Abidjanova, the Country Director of Women in TLP Uzbekistan and CEO of Hegelmann Uzbekistan LLC. Abidjanova shared these insights during an interview with AZERTAC.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Abidjanova noted that while the Middle Corridor has been in existence for many years, its relevance has surged recently due to changes in the global geopolitical environment and a heightened need for diverse international supply chains. She remarked that the corridor is increasingly recognized for its economic efficiency and reliability, making it one of the principal channels for international cargo.

Abidjanova pointed out that the growth of the Middle Corridor has been facilitated by close collaboration among countries along its path. She highlighted the importance of intergovernmental agreements and partnerships between logistics companies, alongside active private sector participation, in advancing the corridor's development.

She described the Middle Corridor as more than just a transport infrastructure, emphasizing its role as a comprehensive cooperation framework involving governments, international organizations, the private sector, and various trade and transport enterprises. The success of its development, she asserted, relies on the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders.

Addressing the potential for collaboration between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, Abidjanova underlined the significant contributions both nations are making to the evolving transport architecture of Eurasia. She expressed optimism that further cooperation within the Middle Corridor framework would lead to increased freight volumes, expanded trade relations, and enhanced competitiveness of the route on a global scale.

Abidjanova concluded by noting the growing share of international cargo moving through the Middle Corridor, underscoring its transformation into a key route for international logistics.
