Baku: Our main goal is to reach the $1 billion mark in trade turnover, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, APA's special correspondent reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, over the past five years, the volume of mutual trade has tripled. The total portfolio of joint projects has exceeded $5 billion, even though many projects have been removed from the list. Mirziyoyev emphasized that his team, including his minister and deputy prime minister, promise to bear specific responsibility for every figure. Collaborative efforts with Azerbaijani counterparts have resulted in successful meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Business Council, and the Forum of Regions. These meetings have developed important initiatives for joint projects and programs, with the primary task being the effective implementation of these initiatives by the governments, ministries, and agencies of both countries.

Mirziyoyev noted that every commitment would be kept under strict control to achieve tangible results. He outlined the priority areas of cooperation, emphasizing the importance of close coordination between foreign policy agencies to advance common interests on regional and international platforms. Additionally, he highlighted the goal of reaching the $1 billion mark in trade turnover, supported by a program adopted during the meeting that provides specific measures to achieve this target.

Mirziyoyev also stressed the importance of deepening industrial cooperation, with both countries' business communities implementing projects in sectors such as geology, energy, chemicals, finance, construction, and agriculture. New projects were launched as part of the meeting, and the utilization of joint investment companies' funds was encouraged to support such initiatives.
