Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh: Our Armenian citizens can live in peace with us

Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade received German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Manig.

CMO press service AZERTAG According to Sheikh, representatives of different religions in Azerbaijan, friendship, brotherhood, mutual understanding and appreciated as a great blessing to live in the country to deepen relations with the Christian world as positive, he said.

The chairman of the CMB proudly stressed the great role of state policy, the efforts and activities of the country’s leader in ensuring and maintaining the high level of relations between religions and denominations in Azerbaijan. He expressed satisfaction with the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Germany during the 44-day Patriotic War and the post-Victory period for the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from occupation and the restoration of territorial integrity within the framework of international law.

Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh briefed the German ambassador on the initiatives and activities carried out by the Baku International Center for Interreligious and Civilizations under the CMB, the international conference held in European countries, including Germany in 2019. He also said that they will make efforts to take practical steps towards high-level relations and inter-religious cooperation with Germany in the field of religious and spiritual relations.

The German ambassador said that Islam was accepted as an integral part of German culture in his country, and that Muslims, of Turkish origin, as well as 26,000 Azerbaijani citizens lived in Germany. Speaking about the formation of a new federal government in his country, the ambassador said that the new government is also interested in the successful development of relations with Azerbaijan.

German Ambassador V. Manig expressed satisfaction with the meeting with Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, who has a great reputation and respect both in the region and around the world.

The CMB chairman also answered the ambassador’s questions about the Azerbaijani religious leader’s meetings with the Armenian religious leader. He stressed that, unlike mono-ethnic Armenia, representatives of different nations and religions live in peace and harmony in multicultural Azerbaijan for centuries in conditions of kindness, mutual respect and understanding, and our Armenian citizens can live in peace with us.

The ambassador said that the existing sincere inter-religious relations and inter-religious mutual respect in Azerbaijan are of great interest and importance not only for the Caucasus region, but also for the European space, including Germany.

The sides expressed confidence that Azerbaijan’s economic progress after the war and efforts to open communications will soon lead to the establishment of an atmosphere of peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding in the region.

Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade wished success to the new government of Germany and blessed the ambassador in his future endeavors. The ambassador was presented with various publications reflecting the activities of the Caucasian Muslims Office.
