Baku: Smoke was detected in one of the wagons of a freight train traveling from Georgia to Baku in the area of Shamkir station this morning, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) informed APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, fire engines and personnel from the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were immediately dispatched to the scene. The smoke was quickly eliminated, and efforts were made to protect the other wagons. Initial findings indicate that the incident was caused by smoke emanating from sulfur powder in the 15th wagon of the 35-wagon train.
The relevant authorities have launched an investigation to determine the precise cause of the incident. Meanwhile, fire engines and personnel from the Shamkir District State Fire Protection Unit responded promptly to manage the situation, ensuring the safety of the other wagons in the train.
