Baku: SOCAR and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) have entered into a Cooperation Agreement to implement the Caspian Methane Emissions Abatement Accelerator initiative. The agreement was formalized on June 2 during Baku Energy Week, with signatures from SOCAR Vice President Afgan Isayev and BCG's Managing Director and Senior Partner, Pattabi Seshadri.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the initiative, which was officially launched on June 4, 2025, during the Baku Energy Forum, aims to accelerate efforts to minimize methane emissions by 2030. The initiative focuses on enhancing cooperation throughout the Caspian region, facilitating joint research, supporting collaborative projects, and promoting the sharing of knowledge and best practices for methane emissions reduction. It also seeks to encourage emissions reduction measures in oil and gas operations in the region.
