Cairo: A framework agreement on cooperation was signed today in Cairo between SOCAR Trading and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) as part of the 9th Egypt International Energy Show (EGYPS 2026).
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the document was signed by Natig Mustafayev, Chief Executive Officer of SOCAR Trading, and Salah Abdel Karim, Chief Executive Officer of EGPC. In an interview following the signing, Natig Mustafayev highlighted SOCAR's longstanding relationship with Egypt, noting the 15 years of cooperation between the two entities. He expressed optimism that the agreement would pave the way for expanded collaboration, enhancing investment and trade opportunities across various sectors.
EGPC CEO Salah Abdel Karim celebrated the agreement, underscoring its role in facilitating SOCAR's greater access to the Egyptian market for oil and gas products. He emphasized Egypt's potential as a significant market and expressed a desire for SOCAR to engage not only in crude oil supply but also in exploration and production activities within the country. Abdel Karim also pointed out the robust cooperation between Azerbaijan and Egypt, both at the governmental and institutional levels, expressing Egypt's interest in further strengthening ties in the oil and gas sector.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Egypt, Elkhan Polukhov, marking a significant step in the ongoing relationship between the two nations.
