Sumgayit: SOCAR has issued a statement regarding an explosion at the Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant of the ‘Azerikimya’ Production Union, which occurred on May 20, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM. The incident took place in the synthesis area of the production facility during maintenance work on the low-pressure separator of the B technological line.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, five individuals were injured as a result of the explosion. Among the injured, two received outpatient treatment and have been discharged, while the remaining three individuals are currently hospitalized. SOCAR has indicated that the cause of the incident is still under investigation.
