Tehran: The South Cargo Terminal in Iran is nearing completion, with significant advancements in both design and construction. According to Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, 94% of the design work has been completed, while 81% of the construction work is finalized. Rustamov provided these updates during a briefing with delegations from the Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia trilateral meeting, as reported by APA’s correspondent in Iran.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Chairman highlighted progress in various sections of the terminal, noting that 50% of the container yard and about 20% of the warehouse section have been completed. Although the terminal’s warehouse construction has just begun, Rustamov assured that all components necessary for the terminal’s full functionality will be finished by the year’s end. He emphasized that the terminal is already operational, having transshipped 800,000 tons of cargo last year. To fully complete the terminal, a 5-hectare area outside the current territory needs to be acquired and handed over.
