Baku: South Korea is considering a request from Azerbaijan’s Chamber of Accounts for an external audit, as revealed by Lee Mee Hyon, Commissioner of the South Korean Audit and Inspection Board (BAI), during the 62nd ASOSAI Governing Council meeting in Baku. Lee Mee Hyon emphasized the potential benefits of signing a new memorandum of cooperation between South Korea and Azerbaijan, particularly involving their supreme audit institutions.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Lee Mee Hyon stated that while a new agreement is not currently on the agenda, the initiative could pave the way for enhanced future collaboration. “Although a new memorandum of understanding is not planned at the moment, this is a very good idea. Steps may be taken in this direction in the future,” she explained.
Additionally, Lee Mee Hyon confirmed that the South Korean side is reviewing an application from the Azerbaijani Chamber of Accounts concerning the execution of an external audit. This development signifies a potential strengthening of ties between the two countries’ auditing bodies, with possible implications for future bilateral cooperation.
