Baku: South Korea is set to initiate a significant project aimed at restoring kahriz systems in Azerbaijan's liberated territories. The announcement was made by Kang Kymgu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan, during a conference commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ambassador emphasized the priority that the Republic of Korea places on supporting the restoration and development of Azerbaijan's liberated regions, including East Zangezur and Karabakh. This initiative underscores the commitment to humanitarian support and development through global cooperation.

The forthcoming project will be executed by the Azerbaijan office of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in partnership with the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency. Scheduled to commence this year, the project aims to revitalize the traditional water supply systems known as kahriz, with implementation slated to continue until 2030. Ambassador Kymgu expressed optimism about the project's successful execution, highlighting its potential to contribute significantly to the region's development.
