Baku: Azerbaijan’s economic independence has strengthened, said Speaker of the Parliament Sahiba Gafarova during today’s Milli Majlis session while discussing the 2026 budget package, APA reports. The Speaker emphasized the significance of the current budget discussions coinciding with the Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Gafarova highlighted the strategic development under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership, which has played a crucial role in maintaining the country’s macroeconomic stability. The speaker noted that Azerbaijan’s economic independence has been bolstered, with a continued focus on diversifying the economy. She also pointed out the emergence of a new innovation-based economic model in regions like Karabakh and East Zangezur.

In light of increasing global challenges, Azerbaijan has managed to grow its budget revenues and strengthen its financial reserves. The discussions around the 2026 budget are set to prioritize national security and defense, along with the implementation of the Great Return, aiming to ensure a robust and secure economic future for the country.
