Belgrade: Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova held a number of meetings on the sidelines of the Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during meetings with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Tulia Ackson, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Pere Joan Pons, and President of the Senate of Zimbabwe Mabel Memory Chinomona, discussions centered on the significance of the Global Conference in enhancing cooperation among women parliamentarians. Newly elected Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Anda Filip, Vice President Gabriela Morawska-Stanecka, Executive Committee member Karen Bradley, and Bureau Chair Cynthia Lopez Castro were also part of these engagements.
The interactions further included Vice Speakers of the Moroccan House of Representatives Nadia Touhami and Zaina Id Hali, and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Mauritania Siham Nacem. The meetings underscored the importance of multilateral platforms and reviewed issues of bilateral cooperation within international parliamentary frameworks and legislative bodies.
