Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament Meets with Speaker of Spain’s Congress of Deputies in Baku

Baku: A meeting took place today between Speaker of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain, Francina Armengol Socias, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, and Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, as reported by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis to APA. The meeting marked the first visit of the Speaker of the Spanish Parliament to Azerbaijan, highlighting the importance of strengthening interparliamentary relations between the two nations.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the visit follows the first official visit of the Speaker of the Milli Majlis to Spain in May 2025, symbolizing the growing attention towards the development of bilateral parliamentary ties. Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the role of mutual visits in enhancing relations and mentioned the activities of the Azerbaijan-Spain interparliamentary working group within the Azerbaijani parliament. She also discussed the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Francina Armengol Socias expressed her impressions of the Victory Museum in Baku and the country's development. She affirmed Spain's support for Azerbaijan's sovereignty and expressed interest in broadening cooperation in various fields. The economic relations between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector, were highlighted, with Spanish companies eager to expand their presence in Azerbaijan.

The discussions also covered prospects for further developing interparliamentary relations and other areas of mutual interest.
