Speaker of Milli Majlis Engages in Diplomatic Talks with Bahrain’s Shura Council Chairman

Manama: On January 25, during her official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council of this country.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh welcomed the Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, expressing his confidence that the visit would enhance relations between the two countries and their parliaments. He emphasized Bahrain's interest in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan and the importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova thanked her hosts for their hospitality and noted that her visit, the first official one by the Azerbaijani parliament's Speaker to Bahrain, would facilitate discussions on deepening bilateral relations.

The discussion acknowledged the shared religious and cultural values that unite the two nations. Both parties highlighted the potential for developing bilateral relations across various sectors and expressed confidence that political contacts and mutual visits would further these ties.

The meeting also underscored the positive cooperation between the nations within international and regional organizations such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the mutual support they provide each other in these forums.

Cooperation between the legislative bodies was also a topic of discussion. They noted the established effective ties between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Bahrain, with mutual visits at the speaker level helping to deepen these relations.

Speaker Gafarova fondly recalled previous meetings with Chairman Al Saleh and highlighted his participation in the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network conference in Manama. The Parliament of Bahrain's active participation in various conferences and parliamentary events of this important platform, including its leading bodies, was emphasized.
