“COP is not just a geopolitical mechanism, a tool, it is the future, the future of our planet. It’s all about what kind of planet we will have in the future,” Hakima El Haite, president of “Liberal International”, Special Envoy of the Kingdom of Morocco on Climate Change in 2015-2017, said at the 11th Baku Global Forum, APA reports.

“If we spend so much money on fossil fuels, how are we going to switch to green energy?! Since the Paris Agreement, we have been making promises, saying that we are optimistic at all COPs. But we have to face reality and be pragmatic. The issue is not only about finances, we need responsibility, solidarity, transparency. We want a fair transition to green energy and transparency to be promoted at the COP29 to be held in Azerbaijan. We should turn the Paris agreement into a citizenship agreement, because it is connected to our planet, the future of mankind,” Hakima El Haite added.
