Speed Limits to be Set on Toll Roads in Azerbaijan

Baku: Speed limits will be introduced on toll roads in Azerbaijan, as reported by APA. This development is part of an amendment to the Law 'On Road Traffic,' which was sanctioned by a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, separate speed regulations have been proposed for toll motorways. The new law specifies that for passenger cars and freight vehicles with a permitted maximum weight of up to 3.5 tons operating outside residential areas, the speed limit is proposed to be set at no more than 130 kilometers per hour.

For other types of vehicles, including buses, passenger cars towing trailers, and freight vehicles with a permitted maximum weight exceeding 3.5 tons, the maximum speed limit is proposed to be no more than 90 kilometers per hour. The introduction of these regulations is aimed at improving road safety and ensuring a consistent traffic flow on the country's toll roads.
