State Border Service: 21 People Detained for Violating State Border Last Month

Baku: The State Border Service (SBS) successfully implemented measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border, combat smuggling, illegal migration, and illegal trafficking of narcotics in October 2025, SBS told APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, it was reported that 21 people were detained for violating the state border last month. Among those detained were 5 citizens of Azerbaijan, 3 of Algeria, 3 of Pakistan, 2 of Afghanistan, 2 of Morocco, 2 of Ukraine, 1 of Iran, 1 of Trkiye, 1 of Senegal, and 1 of Syria.

As a result of measures to combat illegal migration, 9 individuals were detained for attempting to cross the state border using forged date stamps and passports, or documents belonging to others.

In efforts to enforce border regime rules, 757 people were detained and appropriate measures were taken against them. Additionally, 329 individuals wanted by law enforcement agencies were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities. Meanwhile, 511 people banned from leaving the country were prevented from doing so, and 48 individuals banned from entering were stopped at the border.

Efforts to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotics resulted in the detection and removal of 489 kilograms and 871 grams of narcotics, along with 4,689 pills containing narcotics.

Finally, measures against smuggling activities led to the discovery and seizure of contraband worth a total of 8 million 164 thousand 905 manats. The seized items included rifle cartridges, pistol shells, Russian Federation currency, pyrotechnics, medicines, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products.
