State Department spokesman and EU Special Representative welcome release of Armenian military personnel

The U.S. welcomes the release of 10 Armenian military personnel. U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price wrote this on his Twitter account.

“We call for the speedy release of all other detainees, the exchange of bodies of the dead, and the search for the missing. We emphasize the importance of treating detainees in line with international obligations,” he wrote.

Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for South Caucasus who was directly involved in the transfer of the Armenian military, also posted a tweet saying “I am happy that I could repatriate 10 Armenian military personnel. This is an important gesture by Azerbaijan within the framework of humanitarian issues.

The EU will work with both countries to continue successes achieved in the meetings between the President of the European Council and the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia.”
