Baku: Switzerland is interested in increasing investments in clean energy technologies and expanding cooperation in this field with Azerbaijan and the countries of the region, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis said at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ignazio Cassis stated that Switzerland is committed to reducing its reliance on fossil fuels and is focusing on renewable energy sources. The country's policy involves significant investments in clean energy and the establishment of incentive mechanisms to encourage the adoption of wind, solar, and other renewable energy sources.

Cassis highlighted that one-third of private households in Switzerland currently generate electricity through photovoltaic panels. He emphasized the importance of transitioning from oil to clean energy, aligning with commitments made under the COP conferences and the UN 2030 Agenda.

He also pointed out Switzerland's strong industrial potential in photovoltaic technologies and other green energy solutions, suggesting that these capabilities could benefit the countries in the region, including Central Asia. Cassis expressed confidence that the future belongs to clean energy, and Switzerland is prepared to support the transition process.
