Tajik President Calls for Strengthened Security Cooperation at Regional Meeting

Awaza:Ensuring security is critical for the sustainable development of the region, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon stated at the 8th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Azerbaijan and Central Asia.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Rahmon highlighted ongoing threats such as terrorism, extremism, radicalism, organized crime, and cybercrime, emphasizing the need for increased effectiveness in agency coordination and information sharing. Enhancing cybersecurity training and state capacities were also underscored as priorities.

Rahmon addressed the issue of illicit drug trafficking, particularly the smuggling of synthetic narcotics, and advocated for coordinated measures to counter national security threats.

He also expressed Tajikistan's support for Afghanistan's peace and stability and its socio-economic development. The President stressed the importance of applying artificial intelligence in economic and social sectors and developing cultural, educational, and scientific ties.

Rahmon concluded by emphasizing that future development should focus on improving citizens' well-being and quality of life, affirming Tajikistan's readiness to support constructive initiatives and implement agreements reached at the meeting.
