DUSHANBE – Tajikistan’s government has allocated an additional 40 million somoni ($3.8 million) to fund the completion of the Rogun Hydropower Plant (HPP), Trend reports. The Ministry of Finance was instructed to transfer the funds to the Stabilization Fund for Economic Development to increase the authorized capital of Rogun Hydropower Plant OJSC.
According to Trend News Agency, earlier in May 2024, the government had allocated 77.5 million somoni ($7.3 million) for the same purpose. The Rogun HPP, with a projected capacity of 3,600 MW, is expected to have six units, two of which are already operational. The third unit is scheduled for commissioning by 2025. Once completed, the plant will generate over 17 billion kWh annually, featuring a 335-meter-high dam.
