Tajikistan and Kuwait Focus on Joint Investment Fund Initiative.


KUWAIT CITY: Tajikistan and Kuwait have underscored the necessity to establish a joint investment fund, as reported by Trend News Agency. This development was highlighted during a meeting between the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the Emir of Kuwait, Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

According to Trend News Agency, the discussions between the leaders also emphasized the importance of enhancing the activities of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission and establishing a Business Council. These initiatives aim to foster collaboration between entrepreneurs from both countries. The organization of business forums and product exhibitions was identified as a mutually beneficial strategy.

President Rahmon expressed gratitude for the contributions of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) in financing key projects in Tajikistan. These projects include road construction, energy, and irrigation sectors. The leaders also discussed attracting investments from Kuwait for joint ventures in li
ght industry, food production, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.

Additionally, both countries recognized the potential for cooperation in sectors such as tourism, science, education, and healthcare. In a gesture of goodwill, President Rahmon extended an invitation to the Emir of Kuwait to visit Tajikistan at a convenient time.

President Rahmon is currently in Kuwait for an official visit and to participate in the High-Level Conference on ‘Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms – The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process,’ which is being held in Kuwait City from November 4 to 5, 2024.
