Tajikistan and Turkmenistan Enhance Cooperation with New Trade and Scientific Protocol


ASHGABAT: A significant step was taken to bolster the bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan as the two countries signed a protocol during the thirteenth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, Trend News Agency reports.

According to Trend News Agency, the protocol signing event was chaired by Tajikistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Sulaimon Ziyozoda, and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Atakhaliyev Tangriguly. The meeting focused on reviewing the current status and prospects for trade and economic cooperation between the two nations and emphasized the importance of further expanding the legal framework governing bilateral relations.

During the discussions, the representatives from both countries deliberated on various avenues for enhancing cooperation, including stimulating trade, improving transport and communications, and expanding into sectors such as energy, water resources, industry and construc
tion, agriculture, and healthcare. Additionally, significant attention was given to education, science, the medical industry, civil aviation, and the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, including youth and sports.

The signed protocol underscores a mutual commitment to deepening trade, economic, scientific-technical, and cultural ties, reflecting a continued effort to strengthen the partnership between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
