Tajikistan plans to dispatch pilot train to Europe


DUSHANBE: Tajikistan’s Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrahim, has instructed relevant agencies and institutions to launch a pilot railway train along the China – Tajikistan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Trkiye – Europe multimodal corridor, Trend reports.

He also directed the gradual renewal of railway cars and locomotives, the intensification of digitalization efforts within the sector, and the construction of logistics centers, including in Iran’s Chabahar port.

Additionally, Ibrahim instructed the increase in the volume and quality of cargo and passenger transportation, as well as the building of new transit railway lines.

Notably, during the talks in Dushanbe in May 2023 the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow and Emomali Rahmon agreed that the transport sector is a key area for collaboration.

They highlighted the need to make transport more efficient and to create new international routes, including China – Tajikistan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Trkiye multim
odal corridor.
