DUSHANBE — Tajikistan imported over 22,000 vehicles in the first seven months of 2024, marking a significant drop in imports compared to the previous year.
According to Trend News Agency, the import figures represent a 58 percent decline from the same period last year. The data also highlighted a substantial focus on environmentally friendly transportation, with 9,104 electric vehicles imported by July 1, 2024. This category includes 8,187 electric cars, 20 electric buses and minibuses, 32 electric trucks, and 865 units of special electric equipment.
The report further details the transport infrastructure in Tajikistan, noting the existence of 210 transport companies, which include 70 passenger transport firms, 64 freight companies, and 76 that handle both freight and passengers. Additionally, the country maintains 41 passenger terminals, 6 freight terminals, 71 parking lots, and 1,947 maintenance and repair points. Among the total of 54,573 vehicles used in the economy, there are 7,875 passenger cars, 21,930 freight vehicles, and 24,768 light commercial vehicles, illustrating the extensive use of commercial transport in the nation’s economy.
