TAQA’s potential support for Azerbaijan concerning operation of new solar and wind power plants discussed

Baku: Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Energy Regulatory Agency (AERA) Samir Akhundov has met with CEO Transmission and Distribution of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) Omar Al Hashmi and the company`s Director for Network Development and Investments Gabriele Manduzio.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged perspectives on various issues outlined in the ‘Law on Electric Power’, which came into effect in Azerbaijan on January 1, 2024. Additionally, they discussed TAQA’s potential support for Azerbaijan concerning the operation of new solar and wind power plants. Information was also shared about the Black Sea submarine cable project connecting Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Romania.

TAQA, founded in 2005, is a prominent energy holding company based in Abu Dhabi, playing an important role in the Emirate’s economic strategy. The company operates in 11 countries, with investments primarily focused on energy production, water desalination, oil and gas production and storage. Moreover, TAQA has made i
nvestments in the mining, metallurgy, and service sectors.
