Tbilisi hosts 8th meeting of Azerbaijani, Georgian, Turkish parliamentary committees for international relations

The 8th meeting of the Azerbaijani, Georgian and Turkish parliaments’ committees for international relations has today been held in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The meeting participants discussed the work done after the 7th meeting held in Azerbaijani cultural capital Shusha, as well as the future tasks.

Chairman of Foreign Relations Committee of Georgian Parliament Nikoloz Samkharadze highlighted the global processes taking place in the world, issues of regional security, as well as the significance of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

Chairman of the Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Samad Seyidov updated the participants about the large scale reconstruction works carried out in Shusha and the other areas of the liberated Azerbaijani territories following the 7th meeting of parliamentary committees, the ongoing construction of Zangazur corridor. He said that despite Armenia’s disruptive activities and insidious policy, Azerbaijan spares no efforts to ensure peace and sustainable development in the region.

Chairman of Committee on Foreign Affairs Committee of Grand National Assembly of TĂĽrkiye Akif Cagatay Kilic expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani and Georgian governments for providing assistance to the people affected by the devastating earthquake that struck his country, as well as helping to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized that the development of cooperation and strategic partnership between the three countries will contribute to peace and security in the region.
