The announced policy of the new Iranian government allows changing Iranian foreign policy’ approach to Azerbaijan and might include measures like completing the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway, developing the promising cooperation in the banking, energy, trade spheres, as well as the interaction on the Caspian Sea. This is stated in an article by the former Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mohsen Pak Ain, published on the website of the diplomatic mission.

At the same time, according to the Iranian diplomat, “for some time past, some trans-regional players, ethno-centrists and related media are seeking to breed misunderstandings between the two countries to thus weaken relations between them.”

“Unfortunately, some mass media of the Republic of Azerbaijan have yielded to propaganda playing into hands of enemies and publishing undocumented news,” the diplomat complains.

At the same time, he tries to deny the transportation of Iranian trucks to Karabakh.

“The problem of the presence of Iranian trucks in the Karabakh region which the Iranian authorities have repeatedly denied, is one of the tricks of these media to weaken relations between the two countries. Most references to these recurring news go back to the content published in cyberspace untrustworthy. In other words, quoting informal and non-governmental channels and propaganda against the relations between the two countries is mainly caused by ill-wishers to damage the growing relations between the two countries,” writes Mohsen Pak Ayin.

It should be recognized that the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, and especially the statements of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution on this issue, are completely principled to comply with international standards, support the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and demonstrate Iran’s will to develop relations, Mohsen Pak Ayin emphasizes.

“It is expected that the friendly and fraternal government of the Republic of Azerbaijan will strengthen its control over the country’s mass media and that both sides will take care of friendly relations between the two states in order to prevent the violation of strategic relations,” the diplomat summarizes. – 06D-
