On December 17, 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a reception dedicated to the results of the year at the Gulustan Palace, APA reports.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, high-level representatives from relevant agencies, heads of diplomatic missions accredited and offices of international organizations in the country .

The event was addressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, Assistant to the President, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev and Nasser Abdul Kareem, Duane of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan.

Welcoming the participants, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the independent, irreversible, open and pragmatic foreign policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan under the leadership of the President in 2021, based on the national interests of our country.

Successful foreign policy steps taken this year, the first anniversary of the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, including the initiatives of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the chairmanship of both national and international organizations.

Sharing Azerbaijan’s vision for the future in the light of the new realities in the region after the conflict, the minister stressed that Azerbaijan is aimed at peacebuilding, stability and sustainable development in the region.

Speaking about the large-scale construction work carried out in the liberated areas, the Minister thanked the friendly and partner countries for their support in the process of restoration and construction.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov thanked Azerbaijan for its fruitful diplomatic activities and congratulated them on the New Year 2022.

In his speech, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev noted that the development of cooperation and friendly relations between countries is always taken into account and friendly relations between our countries are developing in the past year.

He stressed Azerbaijan’s solidarity with the world community, its contribution to the global fight against COVID-19 and the need to build a more politically and economically just world order in the post-COVID era. In his speech, Hikmet Hajiyev said that the threats and challenges we face globally make it necessary to increase the flexibility of universal regional and international organizations and adapt them to the new reality.

Hikmet Hajiyev said that Azerbaijan has created a new reality by ending the Armenian military occupation in the South Caucasus region, which lasted for almost 30 years.

He noted that today Azerbaijan is trying to establish a new South Caucasus region based on the principles and goals of regional cooperation in the region, the opening of communications, mutual respect for the territorial integrity of states.

He said that currently Azerbaijan faces important issues such as the restoration and reconstruction of the liberated territories and the return of IDPs. In this regard, he stressed that one of the biggest obstacles is the threat of mines, and Azerbaijan hopes for the serious support of the international community in eliminating this threat. Hikmet Hajiyev congratulated the participants on the New Year.

Speaking on behalf of the diplomatic corps in our country, doyen of the diplomatic corps, Palestinian Ambassador Nasser Abdul Kareem greeted the participating state officials and thanked for organizing the reception. Speaking about the challenges we face globally in the past year, the ambassador said that the coming 2022 will be a door for new beginnings. Referring to the successes of the past year, Ambassador Nasser Abdul Kareem noted the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity as the most important event. He said the signed trilateral statement laid the foundation for peace, development and progress not only in Azerbaijan but in the whole region. the doyen extended his congratulations on the occasion of the New Year 2022 and wished the people, government and leadership of Azerbaijan peace and prosperity.
