The decision of the Turkish parliament to extend the mandate for the stay of Turkish servicemen in Azerbaijan for a year has officially entered into force, Anadolu agency reports.

The document adopted at the plenary session of the supreme legislative body of Turkey on November 10, 2021, was published on Saturday in the official gazette of the Turkish government – Resmi Gazete, and thus entered into force.

The document notes that due to the success of Azerbaijan in the struggle for the liberation of the lands occupied by Armenia, the situation in the region has changed. In the light of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia on November 9, 2020, efforts are continuing to ensure stability in the South Caucasus.

From the very beginning, Turkey has actively supported Azerbaijan’s position on the issue of ensuring the territorial integrity and legitimate rights of this country based on the norms of international law.

Ankara contributes not only to the preservation of peace and stability in the region, but also implements important initiatives to restore economic ties and infrastructure.

The conscientious Turkish-Russian Center continues its successful activities in the region, which contributes to ensuring security and restoring an atmosphere of trust between the parties.

The participation of the Turkish military in the activities of this center meets the national interests of Turkey, the effective and constructive role of Ankara in the region, the document emphasizes.

In accordance with article 92 of the Constitution of Turkey, it was decided to extend for a year the validity of the decision of the Turkish Parliament No. 1272 dated November 17, 2020.
