The results of the study on the project of laying a power transmission line along the bottom of the Black Sea, which provides for the supply of “green” energy from Azerbaijan to Europe, will be known in September. According to Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, “we expect that the results of the study will be available in September, and after that we will move on to the second phase.” According to him, which are given on the website of the Government of Georgia, this project has full support from the EU, major financial institutions. “We expect that this will be one of the most important historical projects implemented over the past 30 years,” Garibashvili added. Recall that on December 17, 2022, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary signed in Bucharest an agreement on strategic partnership for the construction of an underwater electric cable Black Sea Energy with a capacity of 1,000 MW and a length of 1,195 km. The cable will be intended for the supply of “green” electricity produced in Azerbaijan through Georgia and the Black Sea to Romania for subsequent transportation to Hungary and the rest of Europe. In June, the Bulgarian government announced its accession to the Black Sea Energy project. At the moment, work on the project is at the stage of developing a feasibility study, which is scheduled to be completed in 2023. The construction of the cable will take about 4 years.
