Baku: Three people have been killed and two others seriously injured in a road accident in Azerbaijan's Balakan district, APA's North-Western bureau reports. The accident occurred in the morning on the section of the Yevlakh-Zagatala-Georgia border highway that passes through the village of Katekh in Balakan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, three people died at the scene from severe injuries after Hyundai, KIA, and Toyota vehicles collided. One of the victims was reportedly Rashad Mutallibov, a passenger in the Toyota and a resident of Balakan's Saribulag village. Another victim was identified as Maryam Hoorsova, the driver of the Hyundai and a resident of Katekh village.

TABIB informed APA's local bureau that two men injured in the accident were admitted to the Emergency Department of Balakan District Central Hospital at approximately 09:15. They were diagnosed with multiple injuries to various parts of the body and are currently receiving treatment in the Emergency Department. Their condition is assessed as serious.

The regional group of the Press Service of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Internal Affairs has stated that a criminal case has been launched over the incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic accident.
