ASTANA – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has declared that identifying new sources of economic growth is now the primary focus for Kazakhstan’s government, emphasizing the importance of active governmental efforts and acknowledging the challenges ahead.

According to Trend News Agency, during a press briefing following his participation in the nuclear power plant referendum, President Tokayev expressed satisfaction with the current government’s performance, noting their active engagement and responsiveness to the tasks he has set. “In my view, the government is working actively, putting in effort, and tackling the tasks I’ve set as head of state. We have a very demanding workload that might not always be visible to the media,” he stated.

Tokayev underscored the need for patience and perseverance, recognizing that significant progress often requires time. “I stay well-informed, read a lot, and follow all developments closely. Of course, I point out the shortcomings in the work of both ministers and the government. But seven months isn’t a long time. The government officials need to prove themselves,” he added.

Highlighting the strategic importance of economic growth, the president stressed the necessity for Kazakhstan to explore and develop new economic sectors. This approach is aimed at bolstering the country’s economy and ensuring sustained development amidst global economic shifts.

The press briefing took place after President Tokayev voted at polling station No. 211, located in the Presidential Center, during the referendum on October 6, marking a significant moment in Kazakhstan’s political and economic discourse.
