Quba: Traffic has been restored on the road leading to Khinaliq village in Azerbaijan's Quba district after severe weather temporarily cut off access to the remote mountain settlement.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the connection between Khinaliq and the district centre has now been re-established. However, clean-up and repair work is still ongoing following damage caused by floodwaters.

Heavy rainfall triggered flooding and a landslide along the mountainous route, washing away sections of the road and causing serious damage to the asphalt surface. Ground movement in the area further worsened the situation, leading to a complete suspension of traffic at one stage. Earlier, a landslide in the high-altitude section of the road had already restricted movement, leaving several vehicles stranded.

Authorities have deployed personnel and equipment to the affected area, working to fully restore the road. Officials say progress depends largely on weather conditions, as continued rainfall is complicating operations. Despite the challenges, partial access has now been secured, allowing traffic to resume.

Officials have advised drivers to exercise caution when travelling along the route, as some sections of the road remain unstable. The situation remains under close monitoring, and further repair work will continue to ensure safe and reliable access to Khinaliq village.
