Train Loaded with Kazakh Grain Departs from Azerbaijan to Armenia

Baku: A train loaded with Kazakh grain has embarked on its journey from Azerbaijan to Armenia, as reported by APA-Economics. The train has departed from Bilajari station and is set to travel along the Bilajari-Hajigabul-Boyuk Kasik route, with goods being dispatched from the Boyuk Kasik station.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the lifting of transit restrictions was initially announced by President Ilham Aliyev during his state visit to Kazakhstan on October 21. Azerbaijan has removed the constraints that were in effect since the occupation, allowing for the transit of goods to Armenia. Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, Head of the Public Relations Department of ‘Azerbaijan Railways’ CJSC, confirmed that goods are now being sent to Armenia via transit through Azerbaijan.

Hajiyev detailed that 15 wagons carrying 1,048.8 tons of grain were dispatched from Boyuk Kasik station to Armenia, transiting through Azerbaijan from Russia. The train passes through Georgia before reaching Armenia. He further noted that the transp
ortation of Kazakh grain to Armenia through Azerbaijan has also commenced. Fifteen wagons with nearly 1,000 tons of grain from Kazakhstan entered Azerbaijan on November 5, currently stationed at Bilajari. These wagons will continue along the specified route to Boyuk Kasik station for dispatch.

Hajiyev emphasized that additional shipments from both Russia and Kazakhstan to Armenia via Azerbaijan are anticipated. The train set for Georgia will eventually proceed to Armenia, aligning with recent logistical developments.

It is noteworthy that on November 6, 15 wagons transiting from Kazakhstan through Azerbaijan and Georgia were processed and sent from Bilajari station to Armenia. This move follows President Aliyev’s October announcement regarding the removal of cargo transit restrictions to Armenia.
