Transportation of transit oil via BTC in January fell by 14%

The volume of oil pumped through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in January 2023 amounted to 2 million 533.5 thousand tons, by 10.2% higher than in January 2022.

 

In January 2023, 77.8% of the total volume of oil transported through the main oil pipelines of Azerbaijan was pumped through the BTC oil pipeline, the monthly report of the State Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

According to the agency, the pumping of transit oil through the military-technical cooperation in January 2023 amounted to 370.6 thousand tons (a decrease of 13.8%).

 

The volume of oil pumped through the BTC pipeline in 2022 amounted to 29 million 749.6 thousand tons (an increase of 12.6%), including 5 million 103.9 thousand tons of transit oil (an increase of 41.8%).

 

The length of the BTC oil pipeline is 1,768 km, of which 443 km in Azerbaijan, 249 km in Georgia, and 1,076 km in Turkey. The throughput capacity of the pipeline exceeds 50 million tons of oil per year.
